Description

A fun and educational craft that combines science and creativity, perfect for all ages. Watch as baking soda expands into a frosty tree.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup (optional)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • A shallow dish or plate
  • 1 small cup or bowl (for mixing)
  • 1 spoon or spatula
  • Glitter or other decorative items (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish or plate, pour enough baking soda to create a mound resembling a tree shape and smooth the top.
  2. In a small cup or bowl, mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar with a few drops of food coloring and stir in 1 tablespoon of corn syrup if desired.
  3. Slowly pour the colored vinegar mixture over the baking soda mound and watch it fizz and expand.
  4. Sprinkle glitter or decorative items on the tree for added flair.
  5. Allow the creation to dry and harden for a few hours depending on humidity.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring and shapes. For a longer-lasting tree, allow it to dry fully before displaying.
