Description

Create beautiful snowflake ornaments using baking soda and simple ingredients, perfect for winter decor or thoughtful gifts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Cookie cutters (snowflake shapes)
  • A baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Paint or food coloring (optional)
  • String or ribbon for hanging
  • Paintbrush (if coloring)
  • A mixing bowl

Instructions

  1. Prepare your work area by setting up a clean surface covered with parchment paper and gathering materials.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine baking soda, vinegar, corn starch, and water. Mix until combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until thickened (3-5 minutes) to form a dough.
  4. Allow the dough to cool slightly, then use cookie cutters to shape snowflakes on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Make a small hole in each snowflake for hanging.
  6. Allow ornaments to air dry for 24-48 hours or bake at 200°F (93°C) for 2-3 hours until dry.
  7. Once dry, paint or add food coloring as desired and hang with string or ribbon.

Notes

Experiment with different shapes and colors. Add glitter for sparkle or essential oils for fragrance.
