Description

A fun craft project that combines creativity and science, teaching the principles of chemical reactions while creating visually appealing snowy structures.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon or whisk
  • Tray or baking sheet
  • Cotton balls or biodegradable egg cartons (optional for decoration)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup water. Stir until well mixed. Add food coloring if desired.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a tray or baking sheet and mold it into a tree shape.
  3. Pour 1 teaspoon of vinegar over the baking soda tree to activate the ‘snow’ reaction.
  4. Let the tree sit for 24 hours to allow the ‘snow’ to dry and harden.

Notes

You can customize your tree with different colors or decorations, and make alternative shapes like snowmen.
