Description
Create stunning galaxy ornaments with simple household ingredients for a festive touch year-round.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
- Food coloring (blue, purple, black, etc.)
- Cookie cutters or ornament molds
- Ribbon or twine for hanging (optional)
- Glitter (optional, for extra sparkle)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the baking soda and cornstarch. Gradually add water, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Cook over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens, resembling a dough.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Divide the dough into separate bowls according to the number of colors you want. Add a few drops of food coloring to each portion and mix until you achieve your desired shades.
- Roll out the colored dough to about 1/4 inch thick on a clean surface. Use cookie cutters to cut out various shapes for your ornaments. Make a small hole at the top of each ornament for hanging.
- Place the shaped ornaments on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow them to air dry for 24-48 hours until completely hardened.
- Once dry, you can paint glitter on top for extra shimmering effects. Attach ribbon or twine through the holes for hanging.
Notes
Experiment with different colors and shapes for unique galaxy effects. You can add essential oils for scented ornaments.
