- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup white glue
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- Food coloring or liquid watercolors
- Cookie cutters (for shaping)
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper (optional)
- String or ribbon for hanging
Instructions
- Mix the baking soda, white glue, and cornstarch in a mixing bowl. Gradually add water and stir until smooth.
- Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and heat over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens (about 4-5 minutes).
- Remove from heat and cool slightly for about 5 minutes. Divide and add colors, kneading until incorporated.
- Roll out the colored dough to 1/4 inch thick and use cookie cutters to shape. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and poke holes at the top.
- Dry the ornaments completely for 24-48 hours or bake at 175°F (80°C) for 1-2 hours.
- Once dry, thread a string or ribbon through the holes and add any additional decorations if desired.
Notes
Experiment with colors and textures for unique designs. You can use glitter for extra sparkle!
