Description

Create stunning galaxy-inspired decorations with easy-to-follow baking soda ornaments that bring the cosmos to your home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Food coloring (blue, purple, black)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Cookie cutter (star or desired shapes)
  • Twine or ribbon for hanging
  • Optional: glitter

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine baking soda, cornstarch, and water. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  2. Divide your mixture into small bowls to create different galaxy colors. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix until desired hues are achieved.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Use a cookie cutter to cut out desired shapes from the mixture. Place the shapes onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Preheat your oven to 175°F (80°C). Bake the ornaments for about 2-3 hours until they are dry and firm.
  5. Let the ornaments cool completely. Optionally, sprinkle glitter on them for added sparkle and a cosmic touch. Use twine or ribbon to create a loop for hanging.

Notes

These ornaments can last for several years if stored in a cool, dry place. Experiment with colors and shapes for unique results.
