Description
A fun and easy craft to create your own snowman using baking soda dough, perfect for holiday decorations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 3/4 cup water
- Decorative items (e.g., buttons, ribbons, markers)
- Craft foam or felt (optional for accessories)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix together the baking soda, cornstarch, and water.
- Cook the Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until it starts to thicken and becomes a dough-like consistency.
- Cooling Time: Once thickened, remove from heat. Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes before handling.
- Knead the Dough: Once cool enough to touch, knead the dough for a few minutes until it is smooth and pliable.
- Form Body Balls: Divide the dough into three portions. Shape each portion into a ball, starting with the largest for the base and gradually decreasing the size for the head.
- Stack the Balls: Carefully stack the balls on top of each other to form the snowman shape.
- Add Features: Use decorative items like buttons for eyes and a nose, and a ribbon for a scarf.
- Create Accessories: Get creative with craft foam or felt to make hats or other accessories.
Notes
Store any leftover dough in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. This project is suitable for young children under adult supervision.
