Description

A delightful project to create a charming baking soda dough snowman, perfect for winter decor and gifts.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Craft supplies for decoration (e.g., buttons, ribbons, markers, googly eyes)
  • Clear sealant (optional for longevity)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of cornstarch.
  2. Gradually stir in 3/4 cup of water until you have a smooth mixture.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a pot and heat it over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  4. Continue stirring until the dough thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pot (about 5-7 minutes).
  5. Remove the dough from the heat and let it cool briefly before handling.
  6. Using a rolling pin, flatten the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness on a sheet of parchment paper.
  7. Use round cookie cutters to cut out circles for your snowman’s body (3 circles: large, medium, small).
  8. Stack the circles from largest on the bottom to smallest on top to create your snowman shape.
  9. Once assembled, decorate the snowman using craft supplies. Use buttons for the body, a small twig for a nose, and markers for facial features.
  10. If desired, spray with clear sealant to preserve your creation.
