Description

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • A few drops of liquid food coloring (optional)
  • Pipe cleaners for arms and scarf
  • Googly eyes
  • Small plastic or paper carrot for the nose
  • Tray or shallow dish for the snowman to sit in
  • Bowls for mixing

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/3 cup of water. Stir until a thick paste forms.
  2. Carefully add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to the mix and observe as it fizzes.
  3. If desired, add a few drops of liquid food coloring and mix gently.
  4. Scoop the mixture onto a tray to form three stacked snowman shapes.
  5. Allow the snowmen to sit undisturbed for several hours or overnight to observe crystal growth.
  6. Once dry, decorate with pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and a small carrot for the nose.
