Description

A fun and educational project to grow your own baking soda crystal tree, perfect for kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup water
  • Clear string or fishing line
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • A small tree branch or shaped pipe cleaner
  • Shallow dish or tray
  • Fork or whisk
  • Heat source (stove or microwave)

Instructions

  1. Mix 1 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of water in a pot and heat on low until warm. Stir with a fork or whisk until dissolved.
  2. Tie a piece of clear string around the top of your branch or shaped pipe cleaner to suspend it.
  3. Pour the baking soda solution into the dish, submerging the bottom of the tree but keeping the top dry.
  4. Let it sit undisturbed for several hours or overnight to allow crystals to form.

Notes

Customize colors with food coloring or sprinkle glitter into the solution for added sparkle. Experiment with different tree shapes.
