Description

A fun and educational project to create colorful baking soda crystals at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • A shallow dish or plate
  • A spoon for mixing
  • A small container (like a cup or jar)

Instructions

  1. In a small container, mix 1/2 cup baking soda and 1 cup water until fully dissolved. If using food coloring, add a few drops and mix well.
  2. Pour 1/2 cup vinegar into your shallow dish or plate.
  3. Gradually pour the baking soda solution into the vinegar and observe the fizzing reaction.
  4. Once fizzing subsides, let the mixture sit undisturbed in a warm location.
  5. Over several hours to days, watch as crystals begin to form, especially after 24 hours.

Notes

Color options and shapes can be adjusted for variations. Ensure proper supervision when kids are involved.
