Description

A delightful DIY project to create a growing Christmas tree using baking soda, perfect for all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Green food coloring (optional)
  • Decorative materials (glitter, beads, paint)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking tray

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and ½ cup of white vinegar. Stir gently until the mixture fizzes and stops bubbling.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of corn syrup and 1 tablespoon of water to the mixture. Mix until you have a thick, paste-like consistency. If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring for a festive touch.
  3. Shape your mixture into a tree form by creating a trunk and a broader bottom, tapering it to a peak at the top. Use your hands to smooth the surface.
  4. Place your molded tree onto a baking tray. Allow it to sit at room temperature for 24 hours. You’ll see it expand and harden.
  5. Once dry, decorate your tree with glitter, beads, or paint as desired.
  6. Find a special spot in your home to display your creation or gift it to someone special!

Notes

Experiment with different shades of food coloring and natural decoration materials like pine cones for a personalized touch.
