Description
Create charming glowing lanterns using repurposed jars and acrylic paint, perfect for adding ambiance to any space.
Ingredients
- Clean, empty glass jars (mason jars work well)
- Acrylic paint (variety of colors)
- Paintbrushes (different sizes)
- Black construction paper
- Scissors
- Battery-operated tealight candles
- Mod Podge or glue (optional for sealing)
- Water (optional for thinning paint)
Instructions
- Prepare Your Workspace: Lay down newspaper or a plastic sheet to protect your surfaces and gather all your materials in one place.
- Design Animal Silhouettes: Choose the animal(s) you want to create, draw or print out their silhouettes on black construction paper, and cut out the designs carefully.
- Paint the Jars: Cover the outside of the jar in your desired base color with acrylic paint and allow it to dry completely, which usually takes about 30 minutes.
- Attach Silhouettes: Glue the animal silhouettes onto the jar using Mod Podge or regular glue, ensuring they are firmly pressed and positioned well.
- Add Final Touches: Paint additional details or patterns around the silhouette for enhancement, and seal with another layer of Mod Podge for durability if desired.
- Insert the Candle: Place a battery-operated tealight candle inside the jar and turn it on to see your masterpiece glow!
