Description
Celebrate Independence Day by making colorful suncatchers that add a vibrant touch to your holiday decor.
Ingredients
- Clear plastic plates or sheets
- Red tissue paper
- White tissue paper
- Blue tissue paper
- Scissors
- Glue or Mod Podge
- Paintbrush (if using Mod Podge)
- A hole punch (optional)
- String for hanging
- Wax paper (optional, for easier cleanup)
Instructions
- Choose Your Design: Decide on the shapes or patterns you’d like to create—stars, stripes, or any fun designs to reflect the 4th of July theme.
- Cut Tissue Paper: Using scissors, cut the red, white, and blue tissue paper into small squares or triangles.
- Prepare the Base: If using plastic plates, remove any food residue, and ensure they are clean and dry before starting.
- Apply Glue: Using the paintbrush, apply a thin layer of glue or Mod Podge to the surface of your plastic plate.
- Add Tissue Paper: Place pieces of the cut tissue paper onto the glued surface, overlapping them to create a stained glass effect.
- Seal It: Apply another layer of glue over the top of the tissue paper to secure it and give it a glossy finish.
- Dry Time: Allow your suncatcher to dry completely (at least 1-2 hours).
- Create a Hanging Hole (Optional): Use a hole punch to create a hole at the top if desired.
- Hang with String: Use string to hang your suncatchers in windows or outdoors.
