Description

Celebrate Independence Day by making colorful suncatchers that add a vibrant touch to your holiday decor.

Ingredients

  • Clear plastic plates or sheets
  • Red tissue paper
  • White tissue paper
  • Blue tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue or Mod Podge
  • Paintbrush (if using Mod Podge)
  • A hole punch (optional)
  • String for hanging
  • Wax paper (optional, for easier cleanup)

Instructions

  1. Choose Your Design: Decide on the shapes or patterns you’d like to create—stars, stripes, or any fun designs to reflect the 4th of July theme.
  2. Cut Tissue Paper: Using scissors, cut the red, white, and blue tissue paper into small squares or triangles.
  3. Prepare the Base: If using plastic plates, remove any food residue, and ensure they are clean and dry before starting.
  4. Apply Glue: Using the paintbrush, apply a thin layer of glue or Mod Podge to the surface of your plastic plate.
  5. Add Tissue Paper: Place pieces of the cut tissue paper onto the glued surface, overlapping them to create a stained glass effect.
  6. Seal It: Apply another layer of glue over the top of the tissue paper to secure it and give it a glossy finish.
  7. Dry Time: Allow your suncatcher to dry completely (at least 1-2 hours).
  8. Create a Hanging Hole (Optional): Use a hole punch to create a hole at the top if desired.
  9. Hang with String: Use string to hang your suncatchers in windows or outdoors.

Notes

Consider customizing shapes with cookie cutters or adding glitter for extra sparkle.
